Day 5 - Wednesday 22nd October

 Day 5 - Wednesday 22nd October

Our four hours of rehearsing this morning was very productive and the students really worked incredibly hard - they were focused and determined to nail the very challenging programme of varied music we were wanting them to perform this afternoon.

We left the hotel in concert dress at 1pm and had a very quick snack lunch at Joker Mall and then went to the MKC Galerja to set up and perform our concert. Particular kudos goes to Becky and Eve for carrying their double basses on their backs - see pictures!.

Here is the final programme:

  • Mass in G - Schubert
  • Music from ‘Gladiator’ - H Zimmer,  arr. J Wasson
  • ‘Lift Thine Eyes’ from ‘Elijah’ - Mendelssohn
  • ‘May It Be’ from ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’ - E Ní Bhraonáin, N Ryan, R Ryan,  arr. D Horn
  • ‘Both Sides Now’ - J Mitchell,  arr. R Lane
  • ‘Rocket’ - arr. L Zanardo (E John, B Taupin, A Cedar, C Puth, C Thomaz,  J Franks, M Smith-Thompson, P J Fenn, J Finkelstein, A levine, J Valentine)
  • ‘You Raise Me Up’ - R Løvland, B Graham,  arr. P Boxall
  • And an encore of 'Oj Jelena' a Croatain folk song.

We were delighted with their performance and the students really enjoyed performing in the venue, though we would have liked a bigger audience! It was a great dress rehearsal for the performance at the cathedral tomorrow!

We then returned to the hotel for some chill out time and many had lots of fun at the indoor pool and jacuzzi - with our 18 year olds also enjoying the sauna and cold plunge!
